COSTUMING & COSPLAY EVENTS at AMAZING LAS VEGAS COMIC CON
COSTUMES & COSPLAY are a great part of Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con, as it showcases the fusion of fandom meets craftsmanship. Whether you are dressing up, or just admiring, Hardcore accurate with your costumes or completely casual, there are great events taking place throughout the weekend. Here are some highlights:
*FRIDAY NIGHT COSPLAY RED CARPET
This is a casual showcase of costuming. This takes place on the main stage at 7pm, in a quick catwalk turn on the main stage. This is a great chance to photo many of the individuals as well.
*SATURDAY PANEL: HOW DID THEY MAKE THAT?
In Panel Room A, Upstairs from the Main Hall, a crew of charismatic craftspeople reveal costuming techniques for the beginner and advanced. Tonia Antilla is a costuming legend, known for her elaborate Star Recreations and more. Guy Caldwell is a Do It Yourself technician who started the Garage FX group with his daughters out of their home. Each have a wide range of experiences; both will explore HOW they make the garments and gear when they cosplay. Things don’t have to be overwhelming, and everyone can enter this fun hobby!
*SATURDAY PANEL: FAN FILMS
The evolution of costuming is the fan film- where universes can merge, mash-ups thrive, and rules aren’t set in stones. Now, quality films with special FX have become widely available with the advent of technology, editing software, and more. Guy Caldwell has gathered a panel of best home made movies and featured these for Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con audiences. GEEKADORES will be here along with the IT Vs RED HOOD. This will take place upstairs in Panel Room A
*SATURDAY NIGHT COSTUME CONTEST
After the Main Hall closes promptly at 7pm, Fans at Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con are used to the Main Stage where the contestants will parade for a panel of judges. Signiups take place throughout the day in the Expo Area of the show floor. After a short concert by The LIBRARY BARDS, the coveted Best in Show Trophy will be Presented, along with several other categories. Prizes Proved by McFarlane Toys as well.
*SUNDAY KID’s COSTUME PARADE
As Amazing Comic Con closes for the weekend, all kids in costume are encouraged to stroll the stage. Here Everybody is a winner!
*MORE GREAT STUFF-
Check out the MAKE & TAKE Workshops, and 3d Imaging Scanners located at the GARAGE FX Booth in the EXPO AREA of the convention floor.
*STAR WARS PHOTO OPS-
Also located in the Expo Area on the main floor, there will be great Photo Ops for the whole family here. Jedi Knights, Mandalorean Mercs, the Troops of the 501st and more fan groups will gather here!
